Pan Zi Xiang born May 6, 2002, Gaozhou,
Guangdong Province, China. (pictures downloading; text below!)
Here are some details re: daughter #2 (aka "Ruthy's sister"), as of the first week in August:
Her name is Pan Zi Xiang, she was born May 6, 2002 (year of the horse),
and she is in the Gaozhou Children's Welfare Institute in Guangdong Province
(southern China). Pan is apparently a very common last name in China
(and there is a story about a famous monk from the region whose name was Pan
and who gained immortality), Zi means child or offspring, and Xiang means
fragrant or delicious. Still working on what her American name will
be, so suggestions are welcome. At her 10 mo. medical check-up, she
was about 25 lbs (11.5 kilos) and about 21" (77 cm) (that's big! -but we're
not sure of its accuracy). Our pediatrician looked at her medical reports
and has declared her to be healthy. Apparently she smiles alot, likes
to listen to music, likes to play, and gets excited about food.
Our agency got 6 referrals this week - ours and that of another family whose
paperwork went with ours last July, and 4 from last August. All are
from the same province and the same orphanage, and 5 apparently were born
within a week and a half of each other (but not Zi Xiang). So it looks
like we will all be traveling together. The babies
will be brought to us in Guangzhou (provincial capital, also location of the
US Consulate where we go for her visa).
We will be traveling mid-late September. We'll spend a week or so sightseeing before and after the adoption.
So, more later....
